The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires.

Author's Note:

This story is complete in my mind, and has merely to find its way to the written form. I will be posting at least once a week, possibly more, depending on how quickly I write it. I anticipate about twenty chapters of approximately 6,000 words per chapter. Additionally, while this is nowhere near my first story, it is the first I've posted on this website. Please let me know if I should make any alterations accordingly.

The picture is not my own. It's a photoshopped version of this one: http://selenada.deviantart.com/art/Princess-Lauralye-418132530 If this story gets popular enough, I'll commision a custom cover.

Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded precisely as before. Some significant characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such characters come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Also worth noting, as this timeframe wasn't exactly progressive, there will be terms used that would qualify as extreme profanity by today's standards. Beyond that, there isn't much profanity, aside from occasional curses. The sexual content is also quite limited, but since I think the unusual nature of this content quite interesting, I've decided to explore it graphically. I will note in the note at the chapters when this content is expected to arise, so that it can be skipped if desired.

Finally, as I feel it will be interesting, I will occasionally include links to relevant pieces from that time, such as actual newspaper or magazine articles.

I'm not usually a fan of first-person stories, because I find authors use them as a crutch to hide amatuer writing. This is the not the case here, the first chapter is a solid introduction to the story. It's hard to judge the characters and plot based on the first chapter alone, but so far so good.

I'll update this review as the story advances.

Very good, much wow, got magic, in Boston. Magic is awesome. Would read chapter one again. Aero got magic, like bubbly chocolatey goodness. The first person is much wow, more wow to me than third wow person. I like the much different personalities very wow.

All of this is good, chapter one the only one there as of this rewow. Will update my rewow as more wow chapters are posted.
