Good story telling.
Write in a realistic point of view rather than the original game where the Raider win every encounter without loses.
MC will do ANYTHING to achieve her goal, which I like.
Grammar is really good for me.
Lots of twist and turns that make you want to read more.
4.5 stars cuz I'm a greedy person that wants a faster release rate XD........not really, to me the story kinda rush a few moments of the game. But that is ok.
the story is really well done (although there are still some slip up in writing some lore like "refugee" don't have trainning, but in the lore like [Refugees that under Dominion's old laws always combat-ready. "All they need is a little push" due to extreme exploitation and hardship of the outer world", but still those plot hole isn't that big so you can ignore them] , quite a good character writing, good combat and strategy detail, and a lot of good and realistic detail that the game failed to mention, like others say, they didn't win every encounter without loses
the only bad about this one is the grammar, although there are some wrong word and error, but still good enough to read without problem
and a bit spoiler but still good to know: from chapter 16 is where we begin to no longer follow much of the cannon and go the Unique way
edit at 18/4: yeah, although the mc is a really cold blood, calculating logic one, but it still justify and still quite likable in some way, only bad thing is she don't have emotion and almost don't have flaw so we can't relate/sympathy with her much, still good anyway
(so if you are quite weak hearted and don't really like villain mc then don't check this, if not then this novel is very worth to read it since this story isn't bad like other novels in this site and fanfiction one )
edit at 16/5: excellent just read to chapter 100, and so far I have to say, this is the best story of a utilitarian MC where if she was in the Avengers movie,it would have been over in first 10 mins there
edit at 24/6: finally, the season 1 at chapter 142 have finished, and in the first place if you don't like Jean emotionless one, then maybe in season 2, with new mc there will be a completely different story here, and I have to say the mc have done well in writing the story logically so far, good and realistic, only bad thing is Jean quite difficult to relate, at least we won't see her a lot in season 2 here (for any that still like her, don't worry, she still there but this one focus on the new mc, and maybe this time she get her emotion back )
and also no need to worry, the author have already came up with an entire storyline behind Jean.
- The story's good. The writing style follows the MC and her emotions, which makes the start of the story seem like it's being narrated by an AI but it works well with the theme and has since changed for the better (the author seems to be getting better as a writer or maybe it was the plan all along). In any case, it's a story I'd recommend to anyone
Very good grammar, solid writing, pretty good flow.
Sadly emotionless MC makes story absurdly boring, its like adventures of a Microwave.
Not my piece of cake.
One of the best fictions i read, i will say that im a fan of starcraft but this story is not just about starcraft, it has the same premises that "terror infinity" and "the ultimate evolution".
The MC, Jean, goes from world to world trying to grow in power for things that you need to read to know xD The difference with terror infinity and ultimate evolution is that the author didnt put stupid rules or objectives, i mean, Jean needs to complete a mission in the world, but that's that, you dont need to follow the character of the film or keep them alive or get samples of 3 different mutations of things because yes. Once you are inside a world you can do everything you want, Jean is free to act however she wants, like in resident evil she could go to space and glass the planet (that doesn't happen but you get the idea).
Now about characters. Jean is the MC she is emotionless and smart, and frankly i really like her. The character is fleshed out and you want to see her succed with her plans. The other characters are also worked and have personality, the only ones that doesn't are the new ones that the author couldn't work out because he just presented them. So 4 stars there.
About the story. At the moment the story has just started so we dont know much and i cant rate it, we just know that she needs power because reasons. If i need to rate this in something then is the story in each world, here i can say that 5 stars out of 5 just because of how original it is. Like i said the MC doesn't need to follow stupid rules and is free to do whatever she wants, you can see that in how she completes her first mission. The author didn't just copy paste the story of starcraft or resident evil and added her MC, he created a good original story with each world as a template, so yeah 5 out of 5.
Style. I really like the style. you follow Jean and just Jean, some times you see different points of view, but nothing crazy or seeing things form 5-7 characters, just different points of view to develop more the world, the story or the characters. So i give it 5 out of 5 because I really liked it, but thats my personal opinion, each person like a different style.
Grammar. Well, there are some tiny errors, but just some really minor things that are corrected the next day. You can read this perfectly, i saw english writers that wrote worse so 4.5 out of 5.
In general one of the best fictions out there.
This is a prime example of story flop due to emotionless disconnect. I decided i didnt like the story anymore after she killed her crew.
With most fanfic's i read (i dont read many at all) its always a hurdle getting over the writers changing so much warping my sense of what i know and what is going on, however this doesnt stuff you with a tonne of useless info and makes sense to me and is good to read, so i hope you continue thanks for the read
I gotta be honest here, this is one of the best fictions I have ever read on Royal Road, and I have read almost anything for years. Let's get to it.
- Characterization: Jean Turner, a girl from our earth gets transported to the Starcraft universe without the why what she knows though, is that she no longer posses emotions, but has a goal: Kill Amon and in return she gets her emotions and the "reward" of going to another multiverse. A weak human on a path to kill a god.
- Story: The Author not only fleshes the Starcraft universe extensively but gives personality to even a situation. In one hand we a have a emotionless girl doing everything to achieve her goal, and in another hand we have other schemers trying to attain glory and leadership, if you like A Song of Ice and Fire then you'll like The Voyager.
- Style/Grammar: Because let's be honest, you just don't separate style from grammar, or grammar from style unless you're an AI with the personality of a emontionless woman. Weird. But Awesome. No grammar mistakes, except a few dots, but damn. This looks like a professional work, had this been a book, well, i'll buy it.
In short: The Voyager is a really good fiction, awesome narrative and a quality quite incredible for an amateur. Don't draw conclusions without reading it and give it a try.
I have read the story until chapter 67
Overall the story is ok, every events are really well detailed, you can practically feels yourself into the sc universe, since it is well fleshed out and it has a lot of good quality chapters, which is nice. In short, it is worth to try to read it just to see if you'll like it.
There's just a few things that I do not like...a lot of plot holes:
1. The main character is just too arrogant and everything goes her way. When a plan fail, it feels like she has an infinite number of other plans to keep her safe, even if she doesnt have the ressources. It's like everything is into the palm of her hands...it doesnt matter how all the other character around her struggle, everything is under her control, which is just plain impossible and strange in the first place.
2. Her hacking abilities are way too high and op from the start. If she had that much hacking skill, why not just steal credits and build of buy her own fleet/army or w/e instead of risking her life to do some random missions at the start...
3. The Mc is supposed to be the best master strategist and yet she slaughter again and again potential allies that are "out of her perfect control" in order to weaken her main foe.
4. The Mc doesnt stop to slaughter, lie and betray her allies and yet there is no lack of ppl wanting to be her allies.
5. (not 100% true) , but like it feels the male characters are lacking a bit. They feels like fooders or they are so bably outplayed most of the time...anyway...
I honestly dont know what else to say other then I absolutely love this story and I am looking forward to the next arc. It is honestly a better piece of art than the Mona Lisa. I sadly have no self control and couldn't help but immediately read the chapter as they came out. This led to me waiting between chapters in agony, but this wonderful story kept me attached even then. I mean I had even checked the story 5 times throughout each day to make sure I read the chapters as soon as possible.
This probably doesn't seem too professional of a review because this is just my honest view and experience with this magnificent wonder of art.
