Savage Divinity

A modern man finds himself reincarnated in the body of a young slave with no skills and quickly fading memories. Follow his journey to find normalcy while living in a savage world, filled with myth and legends, monsters and Demons. In a land where the strong rule, the weak serve, and bloodshed is a way of life, peace is a luxury few can afford.
Author's note: Expect a chapter every tues/thurs/sun, unless I start writing faster. The story is eastern themed, but not Xianxia, no chasing immortality, MC is not OP. Less action, more character and world driven is my aim. Mature language and themes, but no raunchy sex. It's my first story, constructive criticism would be appreciated.

The MC a man reincarnated into another world into a young boy starts with nothing and makes his way up in the world with hard work and dedication. No ass pulls no super hyped up and random power ups. Just steady progress. If thats not what you like then stop reading here.
The story is a bit slow as its mainly character driven with plenty of different POV's and alot of it is focused on inner monoluges, ulterior motives and careful planning and a large cast of characters who who have a small role to play and many who are recurring. Unfortunly with so characters its kinda hard to remember who is who, this novel deserves some fan art to flesh out the characters to a more permanent look.
The world itself is interesting along with its lore and the hidden powers many of its indviduals have making it interesting when its time for battle. The story itself is quite dark in the beginning and slowly builds up on hope and then back to dark. its a nice roller coaster. However as of todays chapter iam no longer sure what the end game is,I pray to be able to read an ending in the far future.
I have greatly enjoyed the story from beginning to its present chapter. A story that makes plenty of twists with wonderful descriptions battles and of epic war battles.
All in all its worth a read if you like detailed fights and war scenes.
(Ah i made a review by accident and dont know how to delete oh well better commit now.)
Over the past few years, I've seen stories on RR come and (unfortunately) go, meaning I attempt not to get too attached to them. I've also noticed patterns about how and why some stories enter the Top Weekly/Monthly Fiction lists, top weekly review lists, etc. and this story has me baffled. Savage Divinity has the quality, quantity and update speed (still somehow daily, warning: author may be a robot) to qualify it both for the latter and, despite my best intentions, the former.Â
The characters are so fleshed out and individualistic they are beautiful in their imperfections, the power structure cleanly and clearly laid out, the MC strong-ish but by no means "OP," the world-building unique (which I want to emphasize how shocking it was to me given how many stories I've read), the main enemies (minus one hilarious encounter) nowhere close to caricatures (the "enemy's" reason for fighting is so sad I actually empathize with them in their plight, if not their means - we've only had one or two snippets of their POV but it's heart-breaking in-between the lines), the plot organic and believable, and finally, it has DAILY UPDATES.
If this story isn't #1 on the Top Monthly and somewhere in the top 20 for the Best Rated soon, I don't understand anymore. Help this story get the exposure it deserves so the author knows how good it truly is. I hesitate to hope for this given I've seen authors scared away by rude and uncouth commentators, but this story is good enough that I want others to read it for the author's sake.
TL;DR: Story is gold, read it.
Good start and idea in the beginning, but poor writing style by author ruins the story, nice to read in the beginning but develops worse than dragonball and twilight. Disappointing waste of time and invested interest. Most likely the author got blinded by the patreon gains and just started dragging out the ending longer and longer just to kill time and squeeze more gains
Very good story. Humorous, engaging and the MC is not so OP it becomes ridiculous. The harem thing is a little freaky, but it works well to put the MC into awkward and funny situations. The best parts for me are the foreshadowing, ancestral beasts, animal aversion to imperial clan members, are the bad guys really bad guys, etc... I would highly recommend this story to anyone interested in xianxia type books. The author is Canadian, but I wouldn't hold it against him too much.😉
This story is a really good read though, admittidly, hard to get into. The generic name doesn't help (Savage Divinity? bleh) and also the first 20 odd chapters are more a prologue than anything else.
Once you do make it past that though, the story is engaging. A long, interesting, fantasy story. With a very gradual power progression for the main character, and many non copy paste situations and fights. Which was a welcome change from a lot of other novels in the genre.
Also, it has pets. Adorable pets. In fact I think the various animals/mounts in this story have better charactization than the humans.
On the bad side, it does derail a bit later on, though. There is one arc in particular that is pretty awful and knocked at least half a star off all catagories. In fact, if I ever reread this I'm going to skip from chapter 136 to 159.
Thankfully it now seems to be recovering to where it was beforehand. A definite recommend to anyone who likes long stories.
Seriously, I've been devouring stories here on RR like a black hole, so how did I manage to overlook something this delicious?Â
I must say: beautifully done. Even somebody like me with my self-taught english can easily read and understand what's written, without needing to camp with my dictionary in front of my Laptop looking up every second word, because it's difficult to comprehend.
The way you make your MC out to be is really nice, especially the slight touch of madness: intriguing. The interactions between him and those around him and the other way around are often filled various emotions. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry (not because it's sad but because of imaging the pain the MC must've felt) and there are also situations where I think "just how stupid can you be?". The feeling of boredom rarely surfaced, though there were a few scenes I hoped to get over with faster because they gave me the feeling "I know you know that but still I'm going to write it anyways".
I like it how the MC starts with a horrible situation and not like in most cases with an enormous knowledge or some blessing or something like that and I found it rather amusing how the MC was completely aware of that fact. He develops a little bit slow in the beginning, but that isn't too bad.
I may not be a fan of harem stories but as long as you don't overdo it later on, like throwing that fact into my face at any given opportunity, I can live with it.Â
The story itself is well structured and easy to follow. Don't ask about grammar since almost everything I read is better than my own selfthaught english and concerning spelling mistakes I could find one maybe two...? doesn't really matter to me though. While reading I only got stuck once because the line of thought of one of the characters disrupted the reading-rhythm, maybe my own fault since my understanding isn't all that good.
All in all I had a fun time reading it, nice plot, nice style, I can't wait for more. It's just the beginning but please keep it up!

Honestly speaking, this is the best story I've seen so far on this site. And by that, I mean it's very developed instead of just for pure entertainment without a consisty of a plot. But this? It's amazing!
At first, when I read the description, I thought it would be one of those authors who thought by making the description 'lacking in details' to force the reader to read one of the chapters, but honestly, I was glad you made it that way. The high-marked reviews just convinced me more. This is amazingly good.
Keep up the great work! You're receiving a lot of motivation now, so don't die on me!
I can't make a comprehensive list of reasons for why I'm quitting this story but it all boils down to sheer mind numbing boredom and exasperation.
When I first saw the reviews of padding the story, I didn't believe it but the last 50 - 100 chapters of dicking around... I just can't...
Brought to fantasy world as a 12 year old boy and forced to toil as a slave.
Rescued after escaping he begins training and cultivating.
Generally not a fan of cultivation/progression stories I have found this story very touching. He is traumatized by the experience and deals with it seemingly realistically. It takes time and leaves its scars. I very much enjoy his perception and seeing those around him viewing it slightly differently.
The tone is surprisingly gentle, the characters are all nicely developed and the dialogue is nice. I like the world the author has created and I kind of fear for what will happen when he gets out in this violent messy world.
It brought tears to my eyes quite a few times and a couple of lol moments.
Enjoy!
If this plot isn't going anywhere after chapter 663, I'm out. This newest chapter gave me hope. And that made me so angry. It is starting to get exhausting waiting for something meaningful to happen. I will happily..... HAPPILY change my review to something better (3 stars because of all the meaningless waiting and filler i had to go through. higher if good story telling habits becomes a trend.)if something pans out in the next few chapters. If you see this review and it has ....maybe 20 more chapters (683) and this review isn't changed, don't pick this up. I'm pretty sure we all had moments when we just thought a story isn't worth it anymore. I am now at that point. THE LATEST CHAPTER I READ IS PROMISING BUT I HAVE BEEN BURNED BEFORE. I DON'T EXPECT THINGS TO CHANGE. I am leaving this review because I don't wanna do you guys dirty. if nothing pans out I'm never coming back here again so i leave this in hopes (provided nothing changes) that you don't have to suffer as we did. This story has its moments, moments that are amazing. But it is such a slow burn that if you were slow cooking meat, it would have gotten moldy.(read the review below for another meat reference if you sort by new.) THIS IS NOT THE WORST STORY ON THIS SITE, JUST THE ONE THAT WASTED MOST OF MY TIME. If nothing changes, don't touch this. It will add nothing but annoyance and impatience in your life. Don't do it. SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAHP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
