Setting: The setting of the story is a modern fantasy world called Eleg, which is culturally and technologically similar to present day Earth in many ways, yet also divergent in many others. It's not an alternate timeline, as Eleg has its own geography and political systems, but there are still some historical parallels.

" Greetings! I'm Loki.....God of mischief and trickery....Wish to hear the tale of Kayle Shaw, a man forsaken by his own world and transported to another.... by me! A world of fantasy and magic unlike his original home. A world with elves, dwarves, demi-humans of all kinds and monsters that couldn't be described by words alone. Though upon entering into this new world our Hero quickly discovers everything was much less fairy tail like than he imagined. It's a world run by the strong and ruled by the corrupt. The weak live everyday in torment and slavery with no means of escape while the lands are constantly engulfed in war between guilds, kingdoms, and countries. Follow the man who would eventually flip this world on its head. Starting an orphanage and even establishing his own Kingdom of Shieldfriegan known now as the The Shield of the Weak. A man known by so many names he lost track of them all..... Beast from the East, God Slayer, The Divine Chef, and even for a brief time ' Vali the Reaper ' . But alas all this was only the beginning. This tale is the story ...of my champion."

PS. If you enjoy an OP MC in an even more OP world, you'll like this. Also I will hopefully clean and redo old chapters in time since my dialogue might not be great. I also enjoy doing other POV's, because half the fun of being OP in a new world is getting to see how everyone reacts about it.

  • I would love to know, Can you hear them?

I would love to know, Can you hear them?

329 pages by The Red Writer

"Love and Hatred are different sides of the same coin" is how the saying goes, I believe. However, the coin of love and hatred is far from the only coin that shows two faces. There is the coin marked with naivety and wisdom, alongside the coin belonging to scorn and respect, as well as the one representing trust and wariness. (Now, stick with me. This analogy is vital to understanding our story, despite its run-on nature. ) Here we have a coin, a regular coin for all intents and purposes. Except, this coin is marked a bit differently than a coin you are like to find elsewhere. One side of the coin is golden and clean, embossed with the beautiful face of a young woman with a kind expression fitted below her intelligent gaze. The other side of the coin is scarred and dirty, carved into the likeness of a young man with an easy grin and hard eyes. This coin, much like the others, represents a duality between opposites that are nonetheless intertwined more tightly than a drunkard and a tavern. However, this coin does not represent emotions like the others. Rather, this coin represents us and our story, so don't go spending it just yet. Instead, I hear wedding bells. Shall we sit in? Its sure to be an interesting show. It is a marriage between fates, after all...

As the system initializes, the world shifts. Geography is rearragned and mixed, and levels and stats are instituted across the globe. On that night, one young man was walking through an underground tunnel, his mind on the small problems of his easy life. Because of his location during the shift, he starts in a dungeon far above his level, with no knowledge or teacher, or Newbie Village to guide him. Without a class, he struggles simply to survive in this world changed by its new connection to the Nexus.

But struggle he will, for he is Randidly Ghosthound, and this is only how his legend begins...

This started as a way to destress and play with overly complicated stats systems and level systems, and I just kept writing. I don't really take it very seriously, but feel free to read and enjoy.

  • A Snake's Rise

    A Snake's Rise

    20 pages by Kenaren

Ten years…. For ten years, I traveled throughout Yggdrasil with my friends, both old and new. We explored massive catacombs, underground rivers, and kingdoms made entirely of gold. But that time of peaceful exploration has come to an end and the time for action is upon us.

We know what we have to do and for the most part, we accept it. However, recently, a divide has appeared inside our close-knit group. Though not serious enough to cause true issues, it has caused unnecessary tension among the elves. The goblins and I, on the other hand, we know and accept what we have to do to make this world safer for the next generation.

Each monster race has its own royal family and it’s this family that we must either recruit… or assimilate by force, if necessary. For our dream of a peaceful future, where true war doesn’t exist, where children no longer need to be orphaned from monster attacks, and where my wife can live out her days happily…. Even if I won’t be there to ensure her safety.

I know our chances aren’t great and I’ve come to accept that I will probably die long before I see the benefits of our work, but that won’t stop me… Us, it won’t stop us.

The goblins and l will  rise to the top and bring the monster races together under one banner, while the elves do the same for the ‘civilized’ races and at the end, if we do it right, the only thing that could stand between us and true peace, is the antagonistic gods and their followers.

If they leave us alone and allow us to live out our lives in peace, then I’ve decided to leave them and theirs alone… However, should they stand in our way or harm any of the people I care about, then even if I have to consume Yggdrasil itself, I. Will. Kill. Them.

Ultimately, I'm writing this for enjoyment. If you enjoy it too, fantastic!

Gore: Extremely infrequent, but moderately intense.

Profanity: There's a few swear words here and there.

Traumatizing Content: While I'm at it, there are some questionable morals displayed (mostly after chapter 77). So far we can check off slavery, brainwashing, war, and genocide.

This story is very Light Novel-ish, because I love light novels, but it does have a planned plot, goal, and ending, and I intend to see it through. You'll see my writing style change somewhat as the story goes on, thanks to constructive feedback from the readers.

New readers please keep in mind, chapters written from the main character's perspective are in first person.  This is a story with a so-called "unreliable narrator."

My story accepts donations, but it is free to read and I've only uploaded it here.

    Author's Comment:
I was asked about reading my work on other sites.
The answer is simple: Currently I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors.

If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it, or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed.
You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website.

The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf.

    ———————————————————————————————

Transcendence? is a novel about reincarnation, love, hate and war.
And everything else that's included. It follows the main characters, as they climb to the top of their society. And lose their humanity in the process to become something beyond human.

It's settled in the same universe as Until death?. It can be seen as a prequel.
But I plan for it to be a stand alone book. Nobody has to read Until death? in order to enjoy Transcendence?.

There will be cool chapters, sad chapters, romantic chapters and funny chapters. Of course there will be boring chapters too. I believe that some explanation is necessary in every novel.
Though I hope that there will be more funny chapters. How a chapter turns out always depends on my mood.

This is the story of how a deathtrap becomes a haven, and how a good man becomes a killer.

This my first time ever putting a story online. I will be adding chapters at least once a weekevery two weeks (sometimes more often), chapters are ~3500-5500 words although there may be outliers. This story is eventually intended for publishing via Amazon, however, you have my word it will be left up for at least five weeks from the time it is completed (at which point I might be posting the second installment on here), so you don't need to worry about it disappearing overnight. Also, bear in mind that this is all a first draft before any significant edits. There will likely be spelling, grammar and continuity errors, I will address them as soon as I spot them or you point them out. I read every comment (and reply, time permitting). Please feel free to criticize (I suspect I have a somewhat longwinded writing style, shouting really does help :) ), and above all enjoy.

A baby with vague memories of another world, he begins his life trying to come to grips with the world he is in now, while fitting into his household's lifestyle and maid's loving attentions.

Cover is a work by a great artist called madimb. You can find the full image here.

Read if you enjoy reincarnation plots, medieval fantasy and a slow developing negative protagonist.

Don't read if you like fast developments and action. This story is overly detailed and not for everyone (The MC is still not a teenager as of chapter 40, if that gives you a hint of the pacing...)

  • Luck Lockyer

    Luck Lockyer

    444 pages by MageOfSacks

Luck Lockyer was the type of man to smirk in the dark, the expression not for anyone but himself. One of perpetual amusement. The bright side of things were hard to find in the shade yet his amber eyes were always searching. The smirk was his default, he knew it, his friends knew it, his family knew it. It was his most natural state.

But the death of everyone close to you can affect a downwards curve on the mouths of even the most stoic people.

Without purpose, without anyone to do the job for, Luck Lockyer found himself inside an empty forgotten church. The perpetual smirk on his face had slipped to a thin line, his scar more noticeable now than ever before. His amber eyes, the windows to his soul, dull and lifeless. To anyone who knew him, it was the clothing that gave away his mental state, denim pants and a plain black t-shirt. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church.

It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family.

That was all he wanted. Simple.

It was then, on the outskirts of a polluted city, in an abondoned lot, in a forgotten church that Luck Lockyer, the Devil of the Cards, the Bloodless Hand, the Amber Demon, the Broken, was answered by a being from another world and one from his.
